St. Albert Family Resource Centre Preschool is one of the many early childhood programs offered at our centre.
Children attending our preschool will gain the skills necessary for a successful start in their academic and social lives through a play based environment led by a Child Development Supervisor. Curriculum is taught in a hands-on environment and in such a way as to have meaning to the children. All areas of the curriculum are considered and provided in the classroom; sensory, gross motor, fine motor, math, science, literacy, music, dramatic play, creativity, and social.
We have access to an outdoor playground, and a larger program room.
Kindergarten Readiness testing is completed for the children who are planning to enter kindergarten upon graduation from the program.

A TYPICAL DAY
Circle Time – This gives the child a chance to public speak and become comfortable in front of their peers. Children gain valuable one-on-one teaching with Calendar, Weather, Letters, Colors, Numbers and Show and Share.
Creative Play – This allows the children to engage in play which is so important to children’s development. Play, more than any other activity, fuels healthy development of young children. It is through play that much of children’s early learning is achieved.
Crafts – Many skills are worked on during craft time. Some skills that are being developed are fine motor skills, sharing, patience, problem solving, color and number recognition, name recognition, and creativity.
Snack Time – Children eat their snacks together in the preschool room.
Gross Motor Activities – We have an outside park and large indoor play space. Through gross motor activities it gives children the opportunity to engage in group games, problem solving, taking turns and patience.
OTHER ESSENTIAL INFORMATION
Volunteering*: We recognize that parents lead a very busy life and not all parents are able to volunteer in the classroom. Please be assured that you are welcome to volunteer but it is not a program expectation.
*Criminal Record Checks & Child Welfare Checks are needed before volunteering in the preschool room. Please contact our preschool teacher for applicable forms.
Field Trips: We offer field trips and host special events.
Snacks: Parents are asked to provide their child with a nutritious snack to have during the program. Please bring a labelled water bottle with water only.
Students: The centre supports MacEwan University students, which in turn keeps us up-to-date with the latest teaching and learning trends as well as enriching the classroom with fresh play and learning experiences.
Fundraising: The centre engages in a number of fundraisers annually to assist with overhead costs and attempt to keep our program fees affordable. You are encouraged to participate in at least one fundraiser annually.
